Silent cinema, classes and more

The same headsets work for more than parties. Anything where one person or one soundtrack needs to reach a group, without filling the room, is a candidate. This page says plainly what our kit can and can't do.

What the kit can do

  • We hold 40 headsets.
  • The transmitter has one channel, so everyone hears the same thing. That means one soundtrack or one speaker at a time. It can't play two things at once, and it can't offer a choice of languages.
  • The transmitter also takes a microphone, for announcements, speeches or a talk.
  • The transmitter takes audio from a 3.5mm microphone input, red and white phono inputs and Bluetooth.
  • The signal reaches about 100 metres.

Ask about the things we haven't listed, and we'll tell you honestly whether it will work.

Silent cinema

Everyone watches the film on the screen and hears it through a headset, so it can run in a garden, a hall or a room with other things going on. The film's sound goes to the transmitter, which takes audio from a 3.5mm microphone input, red and white phono inputs and Bluetooth, and the headsets play it. We can supply a screen on request. The price depends on what you need, so ask and we'll quote.

Fitness and yoga classes

An instructor with a microphone can be heard by everyone in the class at the same level, over the music, in a park, a studio or a shared space. Tell us about your class and we'll say honestly whether the kit suits it.

Conferences and workshops

The speaker uses the microphone and the room hears them through the headsets, with no need for a PA system. Because there is a single channel, this suits one speaker or one stream of audio, not interpretation in several languages.

Tour audio

A guide with a microphone can be heard clearly by a group walking round a site or an event, without shouting. Headsets are for the group to share one commentary. The signal reaches about 100 metres, and a group can be as big as the 40 headsets we hold.

Silent TV in pubs and gyms

A screen can show sport or a programme with the sound going only to the people who put a headset on. The transmitter takes audio from a 3.5mm microphone input, red and white phono inputs and Bluetooth, so it can be fed from a TV or set-top box with red and white phono outputs, or over Bluetooth. A hire is a 24-hour period, and longer hire is quoted.

Prices

A price appears in the form below only for a plain, headsets-only hire. If you need a microphone, or you're not sure, we send a tailored quote instead. Plain hire is priced like any other: from £99 for 10 headsets. See the full price list.
